J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said around 8.55 lakh eligible farmers across Jammu and Kashmir would receive direct financial assistance amounting to approximately Rs 171 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme today.
The amount would be directly credited into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
In a post on X, the office of LG Sinha extended thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the advance release of the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN scheme for the farmers of J&K.
“Approx. Rs.171 Cr will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of around 8.55 Lakh eligible farmers of J&K today. This much-needed financial assistance will help our farmers to sustain their livelihoods, speed up recovery to resume agricultural activities,” he said.
“Our farmers are the backbone of the economy & provide a strong foundation for growth in other sectors. The GOI is committed to provide all possible assistance to mitigate the effects of worst floods in several decades & ensuring stability in the lives of the affected population,” he added.
