Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo on Tuesday strongly countered the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators’ allegations that the Omar Abdullah-led government was discriminating against the Jammu region.
During the Assembly session, BJP MLA Shakti Parihar alleged that Jammu was being ignored in the Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) of various departments.
However, Minister Sakina Itoo asked the BJP legislator to withdraw his statement, asserting that the National Conference-led government treats all regions equally.
“We treat every region equally. There is no discrimination under the Omar Abdullah government,” Itoo said, slamming the BJP legislators who were raising slogans against the government, as reported by news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
The remarks led to heated exchanges in the House, with National Conference (NC) legislators also standing up from their chairs to counter the BJP MLAs. (KINS) Ishtiyaq Kar
