Jammu & Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma (CA) has called upon party leaders in Kashmir to intensify efforts in promoting the “Vocal for Local” campaign as part of the larger vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
Addressing a meeting of senior BJP leaders in Srinagar, Sat Sharma urged party cadres to actively engage citizens and shopkeepers in adopting and promoting Swadeshi products, highlighting it as both an economic necessity and a matter of national pride.
The meeting was attended by J&K BJP Secretary Arif Raja, spokesperson Altaf Thakur, BJYM President Arun Prabhat, District Presidents Rakesh Koul (Anantnag) and Mudasir Farooq (Bandipora), Co-media Incharge Sajid Yousuf, along with several other prominent leaders.
In his address, Sat Sharma said:“Swadeshi should not be seen as compulsion but as pride — the strength of our nation, the dignity of our artisans, and the confidence of our economy. Every shopkeeper in Kashmir should proudly display and promote local products as a symbol of our collective resolve.”
He emphasized that by choosing Indian-made goods, citizens are supporting entrepreneurship, nurturing innovation, and reinforcing the country’s economic backbone.
Highlighting Kashmir’s unique cultural and economic identity, Sat Sharma cited world-renowned geo-tagged products such as Kani Shawls, Pashmina, Sozani Craft, Papier-Mâché, Walnut Wood Carving, Khatamband, Hand-Knotted Carpets, and Kashmir Saffron, along with traditional produce like Nadru. He said these represent the rich legacy of Kashmiri craftsmanship that deserves global recognition and greater domestic support.
Sat Sharma underlined that since 2014, the Modi government has consistently worked to uplift artisans, promote traditional industries, and strengthen regional economies. He stressed that the responsibility now lies with every citizen to contribute to this mission by embracing Swadeshi products.
Concluding the meeting, BJP leaders pledged to carry the message of Swadeshi and Atma Nirbhar Bharat to the grassroots level, ensuring greater public awareness and participation across Kashmir.(KINS)
