Class 10th, 12th results to be declared on January 14: Education Minister Sakina Itoo

Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Monday clarified that the newly announced school timings across Kashmir are not set in stone and may be revised based on feedback from parents and stakeholders.

“Many parents are reaching out to me with concerns about early school timings. I want to assure everyone—these timings are not final. If changes are needed, we will certainly make them,” Itoo said during her visit to Kulgam as per news agency KINS.

The Minister urged parents and students not to panic, stressing that the department’s foremost priority is to ensure syllabus completion on time. “With the November session and exams scheduled in October, and considering we’re already in mid-July, time is of the essence. Our focus is on helping students succeed, make Jammu and Kashmir proud, and compete at national levels,” she said.

Her statement comes amid growing criticism from parents and students, who argue that the early morning schedule is impractical and difficult to follow, especially during summer.

As per the government’s directive, schools in municipal areas will function from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while those in rural areas will operate from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Additionally, students above the primary level are expected to attend two hours of online classes in the afternoon after a one-hour break.

Itoo reaffirmed that the department remains open to public feedback and will prioritize student welfare while making future decisions.(KINS)
