A high-level security review meeting, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, is underway at Jammu.
Top officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), Additional Home Secretary, Inspector General (IG) of Jammu, and several senior administrative officers, were expected to attend the meeting.
Sources said that meeting was scheduled in convention centre Jammu where the Lieutenant Governor attends the Programme of J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides.
Official sources told news gathering agency KINS that the primary focus of the meeting is to enhance coordination among various security agencies operating in Jammu.
Strategies to bolster surveillance and intelligence-sharing mechanisms are expected to be key discussion points.
Sources said that LG Manoj Sinha will review the current security measures in Jammu division and explore ways to prevent terror incidents.
The emphasis will be on strengthening counter-terrorism operations and ensuring heightened vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and within the hinterland.
The meeting follows a high-level security review conducted by the LG in Srinagar on Wednesday, where he directed security forces to dismantle terrorist networks and take decisive action against those aiding and abetting terrorism.
Highlighting the broader vision for the Union Territory, LG Sinha stated, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu & Kashmir is progressing towards peace and prosperity. Intelligence coordination and precision in anti-terror operations remain critical in securing our region.”
Apart from security concerns, the welfare of the police force is also on the agenda, with discussions expected on better working conditions and enhanced facilities for personnel engaged in counter-insurgency operations.
With security being a top priority, sources indicated that the LG has directed agencies to intensify efforts against any threats, ensuring that Jammu and Kashmir remains safe and stable amid evolving security dynamics.(KINS)
