Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday attended the 79th Foundation Day event of Delhi Police and laid the foundation stone for ten new Delhi Police projects.
Addressing the gathering, Shah said that the first phase of the Safe City Project has been inaugurated.
The modern Integrated Command, Control, Communication and Computer Centre (C4I), built at a cost of approximately Rs 857 crore, has been dedicated to the people of Delhi. He said that eleven district-level C3I centres and seventy-five police station-level C2I units will be integrated with the system.
Under the programme to connect Delhi with 10,000 cameras, 2,100 cameras have already been connected live in the first phase. Shah expressed confidence that the Safe City Project will significantly enhance Delhi’s security in the coming days.
Referring to the new criminal laws, Shah said that in the last 11 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has achieved many milestones. He said history will recall the three new criminal laws passed by Parliament, adding that within the next three years, after full implementation, any FIR filed in any corner of the country will reach the Supreme Court, ensuring punishment for criminals and justice for victims.
Shah stated that a separate chapter has been added in the new laws for crimes against children and women. E-FIRs and Zero FIRs have been given legal backing, community service has been legalised as punishment for minor offences, and provisions have been made for confiscation and seizure of properties of proclaimed offenders located outside India.
