At least six people died and five injured on Wednesday evening after a jeep fell into a ditch in the mountainous area of Abbottabad district in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said police.

Local police stated that the jeep plunged into the ditch after the driver lost control in the Bakote area of Abbottabad, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including three women.

Police and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and transported the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital.

Medical personnel expressed concern that the death toll might rise further, as three of the injured are in critical condition.

The police added that the deceased were from the same village and were returning home after shopping when the accident occurred.
