To assess the crime and security scenario of Police District Handwara, SSP Handwara, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhury (JKPS), chaired a review meeting at the Conference Hall, DPO Handwara.
The primary focus of the meeting was the implementation of new criminal laws, addressing issues related to the NDPS Act and UAPA, and evaluating the overall security situation in the district.
During the meeting, SSP Handwara emphasized the importance of efficient law enforcement, proper investigation procedures, and the swift disposal of cases in line with newly introduced criminal laws. He directed officers to adopt a proactive approach in handling drug-related offenses under the NDPS Act and stressed the need for strict action against individuals involved in unlawful activities under the UAPA.
Discussions also covered enhancing intelligence gathering, strengthening anti-drug initiatives, and improving coordination among security agencies to ensure a robust security environment in the district. Officers were instructed to maintain heightened vigilance, particularly in sensitive areas, to counter potential threats to peace and stability.
SSP Handwara reiterated the police department’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and vowed to take strict legal action against those indulging in criminal activities. He also urged officers to stay updated on legal amendments and ensure that investigations are conducted professionally and in compliance with legal standards.
