In a remarkable display of compassion, the residents of Gund, Ganderbal, opened their homes to stranded tourists caught off guard by heavy snowfall. This selfless act highlights the deep-rooted tradition of hospitality and humanity among the people of Kashmir.
Over two dozen tourists were left stranded in Gund after sudden snowfall blocked the roads, leaving them with no immediate assistance. Rising to the occasion, locals provided warm shelter, hot meals, and emotional support, ensuring the stranded visitors felt secure in the midst of their ordeal.
One of the tourists, moved by the gesture, said, “We were terrified when the snowfall trapped us, but the people of Gund treated us like family. Their kindness and warmth will stay with us forever.”
The district administration and police praised the locals for their actions, noting that such efforts enhance Kashmir’s reputation as a welcoming destination.
“The people of Kashmir have once again demonstrated the essence of Kashmiri hospitality. Their actions serve as a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the importance of extending a helping hand, even in the face of adversity,” said a local to CNS.
