Suspicious IED detected in J&K’s Baramulla

A suspicious improvised explosive device (IED) was detected and safely defused by security forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Friday.

The device was spotted during a night patrol by Army personnel at Janbazpora along the Baramulla–Handwara highway. The area was immediately cordoned off, and senior officers from the security forces rushed to the site.

A bomb disposal squad was subsequently called in and successfully neutralised the suspected IED without causing any damage, officials added.

This is the second such recovery in the district within three days. On Wednesday, another suspicious IED was detected and destroyed along the Baramulla–Srinagar national highway.
