Tehsil clerk demands bribe to issue marriage certificate, nabbed

Punjab Vigilance Bureau has nabbed a clerk Harjeet Singh, posted
at Tehsil office, Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district for demanding and accepting
a bribe of Rs 4,500.


A bureau spokesperson, on Tuesday, said that the action was taken on a complaint by a Jagara Ram Tirath village. According to the complaint, the said clerk had demanded Rs 10,000 for issuing his marriage certificate. The deal was struck at Rs 6,000 and the accused had already taken Rs 1,500 as a first instalment.


The spokesperson added that after receiving the complaint, the bureau unit of Bathinda range laid a trap and the accused was arrested while taking a bribe of Rs 4,500.
A corruption case has been registered against the above


said accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress, he informed.
