Ahead of the elections, top security brass on Monday held a comprehensive review of the security arrangements in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district during which forces were directed to remain vigilant and stressed the need for a strong security grid to prevent any potential disruptions.
The meeting was presided by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Kashmir Range (SKR) Javid Iqbal Matoo and attended by the Senior officers, including the Commander of Ist Sector RR, Commander of 2nd Sector RR, DIGs of CRPF, BSF, ITBP, COs of the Army and CAPF, SP Hqrs Anantnag, Addl. SP Anantnag, SP OPS Anantnag, and other key officers were in attendance to ensure a secure and incident free assembly elections being held on September 25 in the district.
The meeting was held at the DPO Conference Hall Anantnag, during which DIG SKR underscored the importance of a robust security plan, strict adherence to the Model code of conduct, and proactive measures to counter threats from Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and Anti-National Elements (ANEs).
DIG SKR directed all officers to remain vigilant and stressed the need for a strong security grid to prevent any potential disruptions.
He called for seamless coordination with other security agencies to effectively tackle challenges at the grassroots level.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, presented a detailed Security and Election preparedness plan, outlining measures for the protection of candidates, strong rooms, transportation logistics, Deployments, and communication networks to ensure an incident-free election.
“We are fully committed to ensuring peaceful, safe, and successful Elections. Security will remain our top priority, and we will take every necessary step to achieve it.” Anantnag Police conveyed in a message.
