Traders Oppose KTMF’s Shutdown Call

 day after the Kashmir Traders Manufacturing Federation called for shutdown across valley against the government failure in rehabilitating flood hit traders, both the factions of Kashmir Economic Alliance as well as KTMF Monday opposed Tuesday’s strike call given earlier by a KTMF faction.
While talking  to media various associations of the Valley traders resolved there will be no strike on Tuesday.
KTMF President, Muhammad Yasin Khan told KNS that it was yet to take call over the issue, in the wake of news reports that traders would not get any compensation. “We are yet to get any formal response from the government. We’ll seek details from the Raj Bhawan about the decision over the long-pending rehabilitation of the flood-hit traders and will take decision accordingly,” Khan said.
“Let’s get a formal word of ‘yes’ or ‘no’. And once the government plan is open, we will decide accordingly,” he said.
President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mushtaq Ashamed Wani told KNS that they have not given any shutdown call for Tuesday. “Normal life will continue across the Valley on February 2. We are not going to support any shutdown call,” he said.
He said the KCCI was committed to seek rehabilitation of flood-hit traders and would fight for the cause till each and every trader is not rehabilitated. “KCCI stands by its commitment that if the traders are not given decent compensation, we will take to streets for a decisive battle against the government,” Wani reiterated.
Wani said that during Omar led governments rule in the state, there were speculations that that 44000 crore rupees will be given to flood affected people here but despite that the administration decided that only 8640 crores rupees will be given to the flood hit people and so far only 800 crore has been announced.
President of Shehr-e-Khaas trader’s coordination committee, Nazir Ahmad also said that they will not back any shutdown call. (Agencies)
