A man hacked his wife with an axe and later committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in the kachhwa area of Mirzapur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, a police officer said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shri Kant Prajapati said that Rajesh Patel (40), a resident of Bajardiha village, hacked his wife Neetu Patel (36) with an axe.
“After this, Rajesh consumed some poisonous substance. He was taken to the hospital from where he was referred to Varanasi. Rajesh died while being taken to Varanasi,” he said.
He said that the reason behind the murder and suicide was not clear. “It is being said that the mental condition of Rajesh was not good. The couple has a daughter and a son. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination,” he said.
