London, May 9 (UNI) A fleece jacket worn and signed by by Ukraine President Volodymy Zelenskyy has been sold for £90,000, or around $111,000, at a fundraiser for Ukraine in London.
In a video posted on Twitter on Saturday, the Ukrainian Embassy to the United Kingdom said, “Today, the whole word looks up to a man wearing a simple fleece jacket. And now the iconic item, personally signed by President Zelenskyy, is here.”
The embassy further said that the event held on May 5 was aimed to “tell the stories of (Ukrainian) bravery which became iconic during the war, as well as to raise funds to support this bravery.”
According to CNN, the “Brave Ukraine” fundraiser, which included toys donated by Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska and photographs by late photographer Max Levine as well as Zelenskyy’s jacket, was hosted by the Ukrainian Embassy in London at the Tate Modern art gallery.
More than $1 million was raised for “With Ukraine”.
“Most of the funds will be used for the re-equipment of the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center,” the embassy said in a tweet.
During the fundraiser, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, “What an honor to speak after my friend Volodymyr Zelenskyy, truly one of the most incredible leaders of modern times.”

Johnson also called for “much higher bids” on the initial starting bid of £50,000, or around $61,000, for Zelenskyy’s fleece, CNN reported.
