Xuhaib MaqboolSrinagar: Despite unprecedented security measures in place, the suspected militants hurled a hand grenade towards the Ikhwaan hotel in volatile Khanyar area of old city injuring over six persons of Paramilitary forces.
A CRPF spokesman Bhavenesh Chowdary also confirmed that grenade was lobbed towards their installation in Srinagar which houses the 82 Battalion of CRPF.
“Our eleven men were injured in the grenade attack,” he said.
The injured men have been shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off and the search operation has been started to flush out the militants responsible for attack. The attack has sounded a further alert among the security agencies in wake of Prime Ministers visit on November 7.
Meanwhile, local outfit Hizbul mujahidin claimed the responsibility for attack on hotel Ikhwan.
