Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla on Friday said to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from the society.
“A Police party of PP Palhallan at a checkpoint established at Palhallan Morh, arrested a drug peddler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Wani son of Manzoor Ahmad Wani resident of Raipora Palhallan. During search, officers were able to recover 145 grams of Charas from his possession,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Similarly, police said that a police party of PS Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Zandfaran Sheeri intercepted a suspicious person who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
He has been identified as Waseem Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Majeed Sheikh resident of Heewan. During search, 56 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon were recovered from his possession.
“Both the drug peddlers have been shifted to police stations and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated,” police said.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said
