At least 25 tourists were rescued by a joint administrative team who were stuck near Sinthan top road due to fresh snowfall and landslides on Wednesday, officials said.
They said about a dozen vehicles carrying 25 tourists and locals were stuck near Sinthan top road in sub district Kokernag of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district which was blocked due to fresh snowfall and landslide.
A joint rescue operation was launched by administration of Sub Division Kokernag Revenue, Police and National Highways and Infrastructure Development corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and Administration of Sub Division Chatroo( Revenue and police) under supervision of Sub District Magistrates (SDMs) of Kokernag & Chatroo today at around 11am Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag during which all the tourists and local were rescued and taken to safer places.
Tehsildars and SHOs of both the sides were closely monitoring the operation under supervision of SDPO Kokernag while 19 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) were on standby.
