CM Omar Abdullah pitches J&K as premier film destination during Bengaluru outreach

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday engaged with leading filmmakers in Bengaluru, promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a premier destination for film production and cinema-driven tourism.

Interacting with a delegation of producers and representatives from major production houses, the Chief Minister highlighted the region’s scenic beauty, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural heritage as ideal for filmmaking.

He assured full government support and a filmmaker-friendly environment, reiterating the administration’s commitment to making film production in J&K easier and more accessible through streamlined permissions, logistical assistance, and incentives.

The outreach is part of the government’s broader engagement strategy in South India, aimed at strengthening ties with key stakeholders in the tourism and film industries. Recognising South India as a major hub of cinema and outbound tourism, the initiative seeks to position J&K as a preferred destination for filmmakers and travellers alike.

Emphasising the economic potential of cinema, the Chief Minister said films shot in Jammu and Kashmir can significantly boost tourism, enhance global visibility, and create livelihood opportunities for local communities.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe, supportive, and enabling environment for artists and filmmakers, adding that continuous engagement with the film fraternity would help address their needs and foster long-term collaboration.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, Director Tourism Jammu Vikas Gupta, and other senior officials.(KINS)
