Three Palestinians were killed and eight injured by Israeli soldiers early Friday during clashes in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, medics and eyewitnesses said.
The killed are Yousef Sallah, Laith Abu Sorour and Bara’a Lahlouh, and three of the eight injured were in critical conditions, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement.
Palestinian eyewitnesses said that an Israeli army force raided a refugee camp adjacent to the city, attacked three Palestinians in a car and killed them, followed by fierce clashes in the camp between dozens of Palestinians and Israeli soldiers.
The Israeli Defense Forces said the soldiers, operating in the city, came under shots fired at them from a nearby stationary vehicle, and “neutralized the gunmen,” The Times of Israel reported.
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) spokesman in Gaza Abdulatif al-Qanou’a accused Israel of assassinating the three Palestinians. “The Israeli occupation will be the price for its crimes.”
Hundreds of Palestinians gathered outside the governmental hospital in Jenin and shouted slogans that called for revenge against Israel.
