Jammu, July 30 (UNI) The former MLC of Jammu and Kashmir Ravinder Sharma on Saturday claimed that 900 students are sharing four rooms in Degree College Sunderbani in Rajouri district.

Sharma in a handout issued here, expressed solidarity with students stating that due to delay in the completion of college building, the students are forced to share the rooms.
Sharma visited the College and expressed concern over the hardships being faced by 900 students due to non-completion of the college building, sanctioned in 2011.

“The site of the building was arbitrarily changed from Kathanu to a new site, besides lack of funds causing delay putting thousands of students to great hardships over the years,” he said.

Sharma stated that the students explained hardships due to non availability of space and other facilities for a college besides non availability of even art subjects, lack of adequate security environment putting girl students to fear and harassment besides problem of drinking water.

He also appreciated the college staff for performance of their responsibilities in the limited space and facilities.

Sharma lashed out at the government for an inordinate delay in the construction of the building of an educational institution and demanded its early completion and shifting of the college to new building.
He appealed to the civil and police administration to take immediate notice of grievances highlighted by the students.
