Hospitals across Delhi on Monday decided to hold an indefinite strike called by Residents Doctors Association demanding justice for lady doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal.
In view of doctor’s protest in the city, AIIMS Delhi and RML have released contingency plan to ensure that the patient care services are minimally disrupted.
In a statement, AIIMS Delhi said, “Emergency services will function normally as the resident doctors will purportedly continue to work in the emergency services as per their scheduled duties.
However requisite consultation(s) for the emergency patients will be provided by the faculty-on-call of concerned clinical departments supported by sponsored resident doctors, pool officers, resident doctors willing to work.”
The hospital asked heads of concerned speciality department to draw up appropriate plan or duty roster for the same to ensure timely consultation and requisite treatment to emergency patients.
“OPD services will function on a restricted basis till such time that normalcy is restored,” it said adding that only those patients who are having prior appointment will be registered in the morning OPD’s.”
“OPD registration of all new patients will be restricted and will be done as per availability of faculty in the respective OPD as recommended by faculty of the concerned on case to case basis. Walk-in registration for OPD patients (new & old) will be restricted,” AIIMS said.
Inpatient ICU patient care services in various ICU’s of the institute will function normally as the resident doctors will purportedly continue to work in the ICU’s as per their scheduled duties, it said.
Support Services and Security services will function normally, the statement added.
RML hospital asked all the head of departments to submit an action plan of their respective departments including OT services, OPDs, and ward so that patient care services are minimally disrupted.
“In view of the proposed indefinite strike by RDA with effect from 9.00 AM on 12.08.2024, all HoDs are required to submit an action plan of their respective departments so that patient care services are minimally disrupted,” it said in a statement.
“This plan should cover especially the OT services, OPDs, and ward areas. The plan must reach the office of the undersigned latest by 10.00 AM today,” the RML said.
The HoDs are also required to ensure that their entire faculty must be present in the department by 9:00 AM daily, it added.
