NC backs NEET protesters, seeks compensation for victims’ families

Date:

National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan on Thursday expressed solidarity with students protesting over the alleged NEET paper leak, demanding compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide and reiterating the party’s call for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

In a statement, Chowdary Ramzan said the entire country, particularly the opposition, stands with students seeking justice and accountability over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. He said the controversy has severely shaken the confidence of students and parents in the country’s examination system.

Expressing support for the protesters at Jantar Mantar, Ramzan said they have been holding demonstrations for over 20 days, demanding justice for students affected by the alleged paper leak. He asserted that the National Conference stands firmly with their demands.

Ramzan reiterated that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should step down, taking moral responsibility for the alleged lapses in the examination process. He also urged the Centre to provide adequate compensation and all possible assistance to the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the controversy.

Condemning the reported use of force against protesters, Ramzan termed the police action “unacceptable” and demanded strict action against personnel allegedly involved in assaulting demonstrators. He said peaceful protest is a democratic right and must not be suppressed through force.

He further urged the Union Government to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the alleged paper leak, fix responsibility on those involved, and take concrete steps to restore the confidence of students and parents in the examination system.(KINS)
