Srinagar: Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday challenged the political parties to get 80 per cent votes in the next upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that there is no wave for any political party but some police officers are indulging in electoral politics.

Lone was addressing a press conference after the former PDP leader and former IGP Crime Raja Ajaz Ali joined the PC fold in presence of Sajad, Imran Ansari and Junaid Mattu at Imran’s residence in Qamarwari.

According to KNO correspondent, Sajad said that there was no wave for any political party for the next. “I Challenge all the political parties to get the votes from 80 per cent of voters in the upcoming elections.

A huge voter turnout was recorded in my constituency during recently held polls and I challenge leaders from other parties to get votes from 80 per cent of voters,” he said.

He said that people have right to get the elected representatives in the shape of a government in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that he will write to Election Commission of India (ECI) after eight days regarding interference of police officers in elections.

Addressing a press conference, Lone said that police has no role in elections but some officers including an IPS officer are there who indulging in electoral politics. “I will write to ECI after 7 or 8 days in this regard,” he added, saying that this cannot be done and the party won’t let them subvert.

Lone said that if these officers are interested in politics then they should go back to their homes and take part in elections. He said that once the party will come in power, there will be a change on ground, saying there will be a change of decentralization and liberalization. Lone further told reporters that those who have eroded the autonomy of the State can’t be restorers of it.

Meanwhile, about the elections, Mayor SMC, Junaid Azim Matoo who was also accompanying Lone in the presser said that the NC Vice president Omar Abdullah and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti are still looking for any safer constituency as there is no safer constituency left for them. “NC will be routed out of power in the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.( KNO)
