COVID Claims Three Lives In J&K, Toll 91

Jammu and Kashmir Thursday recorded three Covid-19 deaths taking the number of people who died of a deadly pandemic to 90 in the UT.

A 65-year-old woman from Nasrullah -Pora Budgam dies at SKIMS in the afternoon. Dr. Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent at SKIMS told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a 65- year-old woman who was admitted on June 13 and tested positive for Covid-19 died at SKIMS.

He said that the patient was suffering from chest infection and hypertension. Earlier in the day, two patients, including one from Poonch died at GMC Jammu and another from Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar breathed their last.

Medical Superintendent of GMC Jammu, Dr. Dara Singh said that a 57-year-old man from Poonch who was tested positive a few days ago died at GMC Jammu last night. “The patient was suffering from diabetes and had acute renal failure,” he said.

Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital Dr. Nazir Choudhary said that a 75-year-old man from Mehjoor Nagar who was admitted on June 22 and died in the wee hours on June 23. His samples were taken and he was tested positive a day before, he said.

So far, 91 people have succumbed to the virus in J&K—11 from Jammu division and 80 from the Valley.

Srinagar district with 23 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 13, Kulgam (11), Shopian (10), Jammu (7), seven each in Budgam and Anantnag, Kupwara (5), Pulwama (four) while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Poonch, Doda, Udhampur and Rajouri—(KNO)
