A tourist and a guide are feared drowned after a makeshift bridge they were walking over was washed away by a strong water current in Tarsar Lake in south Kashmir on Wednesday.
Official sources said that a group of 14 people including 11 tourists and three guides were sightseeing near Tarsar Lake.
The group fell into the lake while crossing a makeshift bridge which was washed down by strong water current.
One of the guides identified as Shakeel Ahmad, a resident of Gagangeer Ganderbal, besides a tourist, is feared drowned in the lake.
“The tourist has been identified as Dr Mahaish a resident of Haldwani, Uttarakhand”, they said.
The other two guides were identified as Mohammad Ishaq Lone and Tariq Ahmad, both residents of Pahalgam.
“Subsequent to the information, a rescue team was dispatched by police Pahalgam to retrieve the trapped persons who were rescued and shifted to hospital for first aid”, they added.
