The Legitimate Shopian Shuts
Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in South Kashmir’s Shopian district today to commemorate the 10th death anniversary of Asiya (17) and Neelofar (22), whose bodies were recovered from Rambi Ara stream on this day in 2009.
The shutdown call was given by Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani.
Valley was on boil following the duo were recovered dead amid alleged raped and murder of them.
Neelofer was Asiya’s sister-in-law and they had gone to tend their orchard located across the stream.
All the shops, business establishments and educational institutes are shut in the area while traffic is off the roads. (KNS)
