ACB conducts special awareness programme across J&K

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in collaboration with district administration across J&K organized awareness-cum- sensitization programme for government officers in the districts on Saturday.

The programme has been organized in order to celebrate the occasion, which the government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered that 5th of August every year shall be celebrated as “Day of Resolution for Freedom from Corruption”.

The objective behind the celebration of Day of Resolution for Freedom from Corruption on 5th of August every year is part of the government’s multi-pronged approach where a key strategy is to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in this fight against corruption. The strategy includes ways to combat corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the threat posed by corruption, a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads.

During this programme, the participating officers were made aware about various provisions, rules, regulations and government orders in place for curbing this menace of corruption.

Detailed deliberations were held on all aspects of vigilance awareness during which teams of officers from ACB & participating officers exchanged their view point. During the programme’s integrity pledge was also administered among the participating officer with regard to following exemplary conduct and preventing corrupt practices in the government offices, the statement said.

During the events, insightful awareness regarding the causes, impact and legal intervention on the govt officers involved with the corruption practices was held. Besides the legal measures taken against the public servants involved in corruption practices were also presented by the officers at different locations.

From Anti Corruption Bureau officers of all ranks participated in the awareness cum sensitization programme which were successfully conducted in all districts.

The main emphasis was laid on the participation of all stakeholders in curbing the evil of corruption, strengthening internal vigilance mechanism, timely disposal of grievances, use of technology to make public services more and more accessible and giving responsive, transparent and timely services to the public.

Anand Jain, Director Anti Corruption Bureau, UT of J&K delivered a lecture to the participants at an event organized at NIFT, Budgam. During deliberations, Sh. Anand Jain gave an insightful awareness regarding the causes, impact and legal intervention on the govt officers involved with the corruption practices. The roles and responsibilities of the Anti Corruption Bureau, stakeholders Departments besides the Departmental Vigilance officers (DVOs) were also discussed and highlighted for better disposal of complaints.

In the coming week, which has been declared by the Govt of UT as vigilance awareness week, ACB will conduct more awareness programmes across the UT in order to sensitize all the stakeholders especially general public as well as government officials about the prevalence of corruption and ways and means to eradicate it
