Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau today registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against an employee of the animal husbandry department.
The ACB said the case was registered against Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Gassu Batapora Hazratbal Srinagar for amassing huge moveable and immoveable assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The case was registered following a discreet verification conducted into the allegations that the said employee had accumulated wealth far exceeding his legitimate earnings, the ACB spokesman said.
During verification, the ACB found that the suspect is in possession of movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees, including two palatial houses and a three-storeyed shop at Gassu Batapora in Srinagar, a large chunk of land in Gassu Batapora and adjoining Hadoora, besides a luxurious Kia Seltos vehicle.
“The value of the assets acquired, held and the expenditure incurred by the suspect have been found disproportionate to his known sources of income,” ACB said.
Accordingly, a case was registered at Police ACB Srinagar under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
Subsequent to the registration of the case, searches were conducted at three residential premises of the accused in presence of Executive Magistrates after obtaining proper search warrant from competent Court, ACB said, adding further investigation is under process.
