Baramulla: As if spurious Allopathic drugs have done little harm to people in Kashmir, now the Unani medicines available in the market prescribed under Indian System of Medicine (ISM) are also substandard to the level that sealed syrup has dead housefly inside. If you don’t believe here is the bottle of Sharbat Bazoori Motadil manufactured by Hamdard- ‘largest Unani certified company’.HAMDARD

Manufactured by Hamdard laboratories India formally known as Hamdard (WAKF) laboratories-B/1-2, III-Industrial Area, Meerut Road Ghaziabad-(UP) 201003 having manufacture licenses number No.U-212/78/2014 under Batch No.N607 dated 04/15 with price Rs 58, the sealed bottle was brought by a patient in Baramulla from a Unani shop Dar-ul-Shafa.

“As I was about to give the medicine to my wife I was shocked to find a dead housefly in it. My wife was suffering from Urinary Track Infection (UTI) and an ISM doctor prescribed the Sharbat Bazoori Motadil to her. When she was about to take it at home, we were shocked to find dead fly inside the sealed bottle. Is this the quality Hamdard boast of,” asked Abdul Rashid, a resident of Khadinayar Baramulla.

“Where is government and authorities of ISM department who is supposed to maintain quality control,” rued Rashid, who is going to lodge a case in consumer court against the department and manufacturing company.

When contacted Director General Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM/AYUSH) Jammu and Kashmir Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, he didn’t respond to repeated phone calls from this correspondent.

Assistant Director (DISM) Dr Sajad Suja who was nominated by government a drug controller for Unani medicines along with Dr Rakesh Raina controller for Ayurvedic medicines in 2014 while talking to THE LEGITIMATE said, “Government after designated me and Dr Raskesh as drug controllers of Unani and Ayurvedic respectively for the entire state but it has failed to fix the modalities for maintaining quality control of drugs in ISM.”

“Neither any training was imparted to us nor any subordinate staff provided so far. So how can we control drug supply and maintain quality control. Dead housefly in the syrup speaks that unani medicines too go like allopathic way,” said Dr. Suja.
