Afzal’s property worth Rs 12.30 cr attached

A day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out searches at the premises of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Afzal Ansari, the district administration attached his three properties, including a farm house, worth several crore rupees on Friday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohan P Botre in the wake of crime control properties of criminals and mafias have been attached under the Gangster Act in the last 50 to 60 days. “So far properties worth Rs 31 crore have been attached in the last 45 days,” he said.
He said that Afzal Ansari, who is brother of mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and the member of his gang, has amassed illegal properties in the name of his wife and daughters. “On the directives of District Magistrate MP Singh, these properties have been attached under Gangster Act. The estimated market value of properties attached is stated to be Rs 12.30 crore,” he said.
It may be noted that the teams of ED launched searches at four places in the district, including at the residence of BSP MP Afzal and mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and their associates, on Thursday.
Official sources said that searches are being carried out at multiple places, including Afzal’s residence in Delhi, Lucknow, Ghazipur and Mau districts in UP.
