Apni Party expels chief spokesperson Muntazir Mohiuddin

The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, led by Altaf Bukhari, today expelled its Chief Spokesperson, Muntazir Mohiuddin, from the party’s basic membership with immediate effect.

The party expelled Muntazir a day after he announced his decision to contest the upcoming Budgam bypoll as an independent candidate.

The action by the party was taken against Muntzir during a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC) held at the party headquarters in Srinagar under the chairmanship of Mohammad Dilawar Mir.

According to a statement issued by Hilal Ahmad Shah, Additional General Secretary of the Apni Party, the Committee took serious note of Muntazir’s “irrelevant and inappropriate press statements,” which were deemed to be against the party’s interests. After detailed deliberations, the PAC unanimously decided to expel him from the party.

Reaffirming its commitment to discipline, unity, and collective responsibility, the Apni Party leadership said that acts of indiscipline would not be tolerated at any level.

Notably, Muntazir had withdrawn from the Budgam contest during last year’s Assembly elections and extended his support to National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah, who went on to
win the seat.

The Budgam bypolls are scheduled to be held on November 11 and Apni Party has announced to contest the seat.
