Army Public School, Air Force Bal Bharti receive bomb threat emails; trigger security sweep

Search operations were launched in the national Capital on Monday morning after two prominent schools, Army Public School Dhaula Kuan and Air Force Bal Bharti School (Lodhi Road), received bomb threat emails.

Teams from Delhi Police, the bomb disposal squad, dog squad and Delhi Fire Services were immediately pressed into service, with thorough checks being carried out on the premises to ensure the safety of students and staff.

As a safety precaution, the surroundings of both schools were sealed off, with access restricted to safeguard students, staff and visitors.

According to the police, the school administration, soon after receiving the threatening emails, informed the authorities. “A bomb threat was received through email at two schools, Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, and Air Force Bal Bharti School, Lodhi Road. As a precautionary measure, the premises were evacuated and thorough search operations are being carried out,” a police officer said.

“We are verifying the source of the emails and further investigation is underway. So far, nothing suspicious has been found,” the officer said.

The recent threat comes days after three schools in the national capital received bomb threats through E-mail on Thursday morning. According to a Delhi Fire Service Officer the bomb threat E-mails were sent to three schools including CRPF Public School, St. Thomas School in Dwarka, and DAV Centenary Public School in Paschim Enclave.

“Fire tenders and rescue teams were immediately rushed to the locations as a precautionary measure. Police teams, bomb disposal squads, dog squads and local administration officials were deployed at the schools soon after the alerts were received,” the officers revealed.

On Saturday, the national Capital was placed on high alert after intelligence inputs warned of a possible terror plot by Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) targeting crowded religious and heritage locations in Delhi.

Sources said intelligence inputs indicate that a temple in the Chandni Chowk locality was among possible targets. Militants were also believed to be considering the use of an improvised explosive device in other high-security areas, including locations in the vicinity of the Red Fort.

In response to the alert, security has been significantly tightened across temples in the Chandni Chowk area, with paramilitary forces deployed to ensure continuous monitoring and heightened vigilance.
