Former Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, along with several other former accused, has filed a recusal plea in the Delhi High Court, seeking to have Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma step aside from hearing the case related to the alleged liquor policy scam in Delhi.
The case pertains to Delhi’s alleged Excise Policy Scam case. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has acquitted all the accused in the matter. Later, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), moved to Delhi High Court challenging the order of the Delhi High Court.
Kejriwal has requested that judge should be changed. And for this he moved a plea as well.
Sources say that Kejriwal will personally appear in court on Monday to present his arguments regarding this plea.
On CBI’s plea the High Court had issued notices to all the accused who were discharged in the case and has sought their responses.
The plea was filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation challenging the trial court’s order in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scam case, in which Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court had acquitted 21 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal.
During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the Central Government, said that this is one of the biggest scams in the country. He also told the court that the matter is a “national shame.”
