Srinagar: The BJP is following the path of “Insaniyat, Jamhoriat and Kashmiriyat” laid down by former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee to resolve issues of Jammu and Kashmir, the party’s general secretary Ram Madhav said on Saturday. “We’ll tread that path only and we’ll do politics of vikaas ( development) in Jammu and Kashmir. Regional parties are the biggest hurdle in J&K’s development,” Madhav said in Anantnag.

“Kashmir is an inseparable part of India. It is anyone’s ancestral property. They should understand it…they (regional parties) still think that Kashmir is the property of their ancestors…but Kashmir is India’s inseparable part,” he said.

On Article 370, he said, “Our party’s stand on J&K special status is clear. The decision would be taken by the parliament and whatever would be the outcome, we need to wait for that.”

On Highway ban and PDP:

On the highway ban, Madhav said the decision had been taken by the state authorities and was temporary

“I’m hopeful that Assembly polls would be conducted soon and an elected Government will be in place,” he said.

Madhav said BJP’s alliance with PDP wasn’t a compromise but a need due to circumstances at that time. In 1975, there was an accord between Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah and Indira Gandhi. The aim was to give right direction to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

“But the direction of the state changed completely due to NC’s politics in 1987. Modi joined hands with Mufti Muhammad Sayeed in 2014 to give a right direction to the state once again. Unfortunately, PDP lost the chance to give right direction to the state and tried to take it on wrong path,” he said. (GNS)
