BJP MLA to table resolution for Ramnagar district status in J&K Assembly

Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) legislator Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj from Ramnagar constituency will table a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on March 31 seeking full-fledged district status for Ramnagar.

The second leg of the J&K Assembly session is scheduled to function from March 27 to April 4, 2026. The first phase of the Budget Session began on March 2 and ended on February 20.

However, as per the statement issued by the BJP MLA, he has taken a significant step towards accelerating the development of Ramnagar by moving a resolution to declare it a full-fledged district.

“The move aims at providing justice to the people of Ramnagar Constituency by bringing Ramnagar at par with other districts, enabling faster decision-making and allocation of resources for infrastructure, healthcare, education, road infrastructure, urban development and other key sectors,” Dr Bhardwaj said.

“The proposal will boost economic growth, improve governance, promote tourism, and uplift the living standards of the people,” Dr. Bhardwaj said, describing the tabling of the resolution as a “historical moment” for Ramnagar.

The BJP lawmaker expressed confidence that the resolution would receive support from local leaders and citizens.

“The proposal will be tabled on the floor of the J&K Assembly on March 31 and is expected to gain support from local leaders and citizens. It’s a historical moment for Ramnagar as for the first time ‘Separate District Status Resolution’ will be moved in J&K Assembly for Ramnagar,” he added.
