Srinagar: Severe protests are taking place in several parts of old city today after police fired tear smoke shells over a mob which was trying to stage the protest demonstration against the killing of 22 year old youth by Paramilitary CRPF on Saturday.
Eye witnesses said that the protests and stone pelting is taking place at Nowhatta, Gojwara, Razia Kadal and in many adjoining areas of old city.
To prevent any further law and order issues, the police have imposed the severe restriction in certain sensitive areas. However, the locals accused that police has made indiscriminate use of pepper gas and tear smoke shells in the populated areas causing severe health problems to the people especially children and patients. The clashes were going on when the report was filed.
The protests were also reported from Kashmir University against the killing of youth.
While marching in the campus, scorers of students stressed for strict punishment to the men in uniform responsible for killing.
They also chanted the pro freedom and anti India slogans during the protests.
