CM Rescued from Tagore Hall amid Tremors

Srinagar: Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed was Monday escorted out of Tagore Hall when earthquake shook Kashmir. He was there to preside over a function on poet-teacher Dina Nath Nadim that Education Ministry had convened.

An official accompanying CM said that when the first jolt came, the CM stayed put. “But when it became serious, we escorted the Chief Minister and other dignitaries out of the hall,” he said. Later the function was called off.

The official said that the Conference Hall was packed with people. Panic triggered the entire audience fleeing the hall. (KNS)
