The Congress on Friday demanded the resignation of Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda accusing him of allegedly having links with the kingpin of a drug racket busted recently by the Gujarat Police and NCB in Madhya Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Madhya Pradesh state Congress chief Jitu Patwari alleged that a drug racket was busted in Bhopal and narcotics worth thousands of crores were seized and the kingpin of the racket was a close associate of Deputy CM Devda.
Dismissing the BJP’s claim that mere photographs of Devda with the kingpin does not mean they were close, Patwari said, it was not about just one or two or three pictures.
“At least 500 photographs and videos of the kingpin with the Deputy CM were available on social media and that cannot be a mere coincidence,” he stressed.
The MP Congress president asked why was BJP protecting the Deputy CM when it had been established beyond any doubt that the kingpin was one of his closest associates.
He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately sack the Deputy CM.
Patwari said, the drug menace was already spreading across the country.
Quoting the government of India figures, he claimed that about 2 crore addicts were getting added every year to the total number. “While Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not fulfill the promise of creating two crore jobs every year, he managed to create two crore drug addicts in the country every year”, the MP Congress Chief remarked.
Patwari claimed that Madhya Pradesh was not being ruled by the BJP, but by different types of mafia, which included the “education mafia, the mining mafia, the liquor mafia and the drug mafia.”
