Congress’ Lalbiakzama is Mizoram’s richest candidate for Lok Sabha

 Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) candidate Lalbiakzama (64) is the richest candidate among the 6 nominees contesting the lone Mizoram Lok Sabha seat having total moveable and immoveable assets worth Rs. 3.91 crore which included assets being held by his spouse and dependants.

The former Mizoram Police Service (MPS) officer who retired as state Home Secretary, along with his spouse and 2 dependents have over Rs 1.11 crore moveable assets and Rs. 2.80 crore worth of immovable properties, according to the affidavit submitted by him while filing his nominations on Wednesday.

The richest Lok Sabha contestant next to Lalbiakzama is Lalhriatrenga Chhangte, an independent nominee who owns a total moveable and immovable asset to the tune of Rs. 1.98 crore. Chhangte owns Rs. 8,48,300 as moveable assets with his spouse and 2 dependents. While, according to the affidavit filed by him, he does not own any immovable properties, his spouse owns Rs 1.65 crore worth of immovable properties and his 2 dependents own total assets worth Rs 25 lakh.

The third richest candidate is K. Vanlalvena of the Mizo National Front (MNF) and incumbent lone Rajya Sabha member from the state who owns a total of moveable and immovable assets worth Rs. 1.81 crore. Vanlalvena, his spouse, and 2 dependents own moveable assets worth Rs 57,24,666 and he also owns immovable properties worth Rs 1.24 crore.

The fourth richest Lok Sabha poll nominee is Richard Vanlalhmangaiha of the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), who is also a crorepati. His total assets are worth Rs. 1.68 crore Vanlalhmangaiha, his spouse and a dependent’s moveable assets are worth Rs. 93.22 lakh while his immoveable asset is worth Rs 70 lakh.

Rita Malsawmi, the only woman candidate being fielded by the Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC), according to her affidavit has Rs. 28.80 lakh moveable properties and does not have any immovable properties. The poorest candidate, Vanlalhmuaka of the BJP has moveable properties amounting to Rs. 11.30 lakh sans immovable properties.

None of the six contestants for the coming election to the lone Lok Sabha Mizoram seat has criminal antecedents.
