Curbing terrorism

1 min read

Union Home Minister Amit Shah yet again reiterated that the situation in Jammu Kashmir and Northeast regions have improved over the years with significant dip in violence. He said the strict zero tolerance policy of Prime minister Narendra Modi is bearing fruits now and those who have chosen the path of violence are returning to the mainstream.

This is not for the first time Amit Shah made the claims. He in fact made such claims repeatedly for the past many months. His claims are even backed independently. The former RAW chief and security analyst AS Dulat also expressed the same views and said PM Modi’s muscular policy is significantly working in Kashmir. But he cautioned that India is losing its idea for being so tough on ground.

BJP led government at centre has no mercy or soft corner for those who opt for armed violence in any part of the country. They have used strong counter terror mechanisms to deal with the situations in both the regions.

The toughest laws are being invoked and UAPA is used against all those found accused in terror related activities. In Kashmir, the houses are demolished of all those who have opted for terrorism. The families who shelter these terrorists willfully are facing more severe consequences with the administration seizing their properties, therefore rendering them homeless.

Those who have no direct contact with anti-national activities but propagate or provoke the youths through social media content are equally being taken to task. The action against the government employees who criticize its policies speaks volumes of the government’s tough stand on terrorism.

BJP is aiming to weed out the eco terror system in Jammu Kashmir and is unearthing all sleeping cells who either support financially or logistically. If the present regime succeeds in destroying the terror ecosystem, it is most likely the terrorism in Jammu Kashmir will come to an end. Boasting much about the dwindling figures of violence doesn’t justify the claims though it may help BJP politically.

The violence figures often have been fluctuating over the past three decades of insurgency in Jammu Kashmir.  If the present regime successfully tapped the roots of funding and logistical support to terrorism, it may succeed in curbing the menace from the region.
