Srinagar: Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the downtown, Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and Maisuma locality in the civil lines since early this morning to foil “Jamia masjid” chalo called by moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) to pay homage to 1947 Jammu martyrs.

Official sources said the restrictions under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed to prevent any law and order problem since early this morning, a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit here tomorrow to address a rally.

However, situation on the ground was entirely different as all roads falling under five police stations in the downtown and SeK besides Maisuma in the civil lines have been closed with barbed wire and hundreds of security forces and state police personnel have been deployed to prevent people from moving out of their houses.
