Dedicate Jammu Airport, Reasi Rail Bridge to Maharaja Gulab Singh: Brigade

Set to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maharaja Gulab Singh falling on October 21, the Maharaja Gulab Singh Brigade on Thursday demanded that the Jammu Airport and Asia’s highest railway bridge over River Chenab in Reasi district should be dedicated and named in the name of Maharaja—the founder of undivided Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Brigade will celebrate the birth anniversary of Maharaja on Friday at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital located in the heart of the Jammu City.
Maharaja Gulab Singh Brigade—is an organization for social, religious, regional integration of people towards prosperity and well-being for a stronger nation.
The Brigade members under the chairmanship of Shivang Satya Gupta have reiterated the demand of Maharaja Dr Karan Singh of naming and dedicating Jammu Airport after Maharaja Shri Gulab Singh that was put forth in 2017 and it was also proposed to name Asia’s highest railway bridge at Reasi after Maharaja.
The demand has also been supported by various socio-religious organisations working for the upliftment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Brigade president Rajay Jamwal flanked by Working President Anil Singh Rakwal and other office bearers addressing a press conference here said, “the historical and magnanimous achievements of Maharaja Gulab Singh laid the foundation of united India from northern frontier to the foothills of Himalayas with the integration of Kashmir and Ladakh regions with the princely state of Jammu.”
“The descendants of Maharaja successfully kept the state of Jammu and Kashmir together and ensured development in all the spheres. But, unfortunately his contributions have been forgotten by the successive governments at State as well as Centre,” claimed the Brigade.
They said that the MGSB delegation will also submit a memorandum to government for naming and dedicating Jammu Airport and Asia’s highest railway bridge after the name of Maharaja.
“The MGSB shall be organizing various events and programmes for creating awareness amongst the people and correcting the history,” said the members.
