A Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief field exercise was conducted by the Indian Army on Friday in conjunction with Central Armed Police Force for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra at Baltal-Domel in Ganderbal district, officials said.
The exercise entailed the depiction of various contingency situations which might occur during the Yatra owing to the rough terrain and harsh weather conditions, including landslides, cloud bursts, and road accidents, officials said.
The teams were exercised for their reactions and handling of these situations.
“The exercise is aimed to coordinate and streamline the reaction capability of various agencies employed all along the route,” officials said.
They said that it was also aimed to enhance the synergy between all stakeholders involved in the security of the Amarnath Yatra.
