External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday called on Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu and stressed on the commitment to deepening the bilateral ties between the two nations.
EAM Jaishankar also held talks with the Maldivian Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon, Economic Development and Trade Minister Mohamed Saeed and Finance Minister Mohamed Shafeq.
The meetings on Saturday come a day after EAM held talks with Maldivian FM Moosa Zameer during which the two ministers inaugurated six India-aided High Impact Development Community Development Projects and inked MoUs.
The EAM said in posts on X:
“Privileged to call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. Conveyed greetings of PM @NarendraModi.
“Committed to deepen India-Maldives ties for the benefit of our people and the region.”
On his meeting with the other ministers, he posted.
“A useful meeting with Economic Development and Trade Minister @em_saeed, Minister of Finance @mshafeeqm”v and Ahmed Munawar, Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority.
“Exchanged views on enhancing our economic and trade partnership as well as development cooperation.
“A very good meeting with Defence Minister @mgmaumoon.
“Discussed India-Maldives defence and security cooperation, joint initiatives for maritime security and our shared interest in maintaining peace and stability in the region.”
Earlier, the EAM also jointly planted a star fruit sapling with Foreign Minister Zameer at a park in Male.
