A gunfight erupted between terrorists and security forces on Thursday morning in a remote village of Basantgarh in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources here said that acting on tip-off about the movement of suspects, a joint team of police and Army launched a search operation in the general area of Sazi, near Karoor Nallah in Basantgarh.
“The search party was fired upon by the terrorists, which was retaliated,” they said.
Meanwhile Jammu-based White Knight Corps in a post on X said, “Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched by Indian Army and J&K Police in the Bihali area of Basantgarh.
Contact has been established with terrorists. The operation is currently in progress,” the Army posted.
