FIR registered against AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bhardwaj for allegedly revealing identity of minor in Janakpuri POCSO case

An FIR has been registered against AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj at Janakpuri Police Station for allegedly disclosing the identity of a three-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted at a private school in West Delhi’s Janakpuri area.

Police sources said the FIR has been registered under Section 72 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and Section 23(4) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, which prohibit the disclosure of the identity of child victims.

The development comes amid the ongoing probe into the alleged sexual assault of a three-year-old nursery student inside a private school in Janakpuri. A 57-year-old school caretaker was arrested in connection with the case after the victim’s family lodged a complaint on May 1. The accused was later granted bail by a Dwarka court.

In a recent development, Delhi Police also arrested a female teacher from the school after gathering evidence during the investigation. A court granted one-day custodial remand of the teacher for further questioning.

The case has also prompted action from the Delhi Government, which is considering taking over the administration of the school after it allegedly failed to respond to a show-cause notice issued by the Education Department over serious lapses in child safety and monitoring mechanisms.

Police said the investigation into the case is underway.
