Forces Kill 2 Militants in South Kashmir

A day after suspected militants attacked the CRPF convoy in south Kashmir, government forces today claimed to have shot dead two militants in a brief encounter that broke out on Srinagar-Jammu highway near Pampore.

Police source said that in a brief but fierce gun battle two militants got killed while two CRPF men and two civilians including non local woman were more injured.

A woman, identified as Ashiya of Bihar, has been shifted to SKIMS for advanced treatment.

 However, the CRPF Spokesman said the militants opened fire on 110 Bn CRPF stationed at EDI Pampore today evening.

 “Both the militants were gunned down after they fired upon the forces,” he said.

Pertinently, militants fired upon the CRPF in Bijbehara area on Monday injuring six of their men. However, the militants escaped unhurt from the spot.
