Foreign citizens have been detained during riots in Nukus, the capital of Uzbekistan’s autonomous Karakalpakstan region, Hamidzhon Dadavaev, deputy commander of the country’s National Guard, said on Wednesday.
“There are foreign nationals among the detained. Information about them is under the secrecy of investigation. It will be revealed later,” Dadavaev told reporters.
He added that the foreign citizens were not facing any challenges when leaving Karakalpakstan.
