Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers-Charles W. Eliot, an American academic is quoted to having said. True to the core, only books turn out to be our real companions because they have might to empower us & help us go forward.
Very recently, Go Big or Go Home authored by a very young & energetic youth Junaid Abdullah catched my sight & amazed my reading buds. The biggest virtue and core strength of Junaid’s book, I felt, is that it not only expounds at material goodness but that at the heart of it, it is a treatise on helping individuals succeed in all fields of their lives. The author talks about the motivating dynamism available within Islamic scholarship & asserts how Islam encourages humans to enrich reason, recognize the worth of time, work tirelessly and level up in their lives. Unlike what general people assume author asserts that Islam insists upon working hard, welcomes material prosperity & that hard work is praised by the God himself.
All along his writing career, Junaid has been holding a very different & unique approach and that is what differentiates him from other motivational authors. He is there with a very powerful foresight, so devoted to learn, to seek shelter under Godly shades. In the chapter titled ‘Persistence’ he talks about the importance of hardworking, patience, leveling up and establishes that persistence holds the status of sin qua non in order to gain the control of things rather than being controlled by them.
The book commences with timeless chapters on the themes like spiritual development, value of persistence, constant efforts and power of faith, pushing one to get deeply engaged with the text and finish it in one go. Highlighting the significance of gratitude & faith in one’s vision, the book puts forward a roadmap for unprecedented success & covers thoroughly all the aspects that one needs to get hold of this & the forthcoming world.
In order to add soul to his words, the author has continuously resorted to moral & success anecdotes. These stories are ought to leave an everlasting impact on readers psyche & help people to recognize their true potentials.
Junaid’s book reminded me of the letter that 20 year old Kafka wrote to his childhood companion, Polak. While commenting on what reading does to a human spirit, Franz Kafka wrote that ‘we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us. If the book we’re reading doesn’t wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we reading it for?’
Junaid’s ‘Go Big or Go Home’ is one book that did wound me. Set to affect its readers like a disaster, his book is a call for those sitting in their comfort zones & blaming their fate. With a strong desire, hard-work, steadiness and sincerity, one can really prosper & establish his own empire.
